17 Oct CFSL Honors the Life and Legacy of Rev. Wilmer “Willie” Todd
The Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana joins with the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux in prayerful remembrance of Rev. Wilmer “Willie” Todd, a beloved priest, faithful servant, and longtime friend of the Foundation.
Fr. Todd was ordained to the priesthood in 1963 and faithfully served for 55 years in a wide variety of roles. Over the course of his ministry, he served as a school counselor, principal of both Holy Cross Elementary and Central Catholic High School, pastor of numerous parishes across the diocese, and a board member for several community organizations, including Terrebonne General Medical Center. His vocation was marked not only by pastoral care, but also by a profound commitment to education, health care, and community leadership.
Recognizing the ongoing need for resources to strengthen parishes and schools, Fr. Todd partnered with the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana to establish an endowed fund that continues to provide grants for new projects across our diocese. Each year, the Fr. Willie Todd Fund inspires, sustains, and kickstarts initiatives that help ministries grow and thrive—ensuring that his priestly love and vision will bear fruit for generations to come.
His lifelong commitment to serving God’s people went far beyond the sanctuary, touching schools, parishes, hospitals, and neighborhoods throughout our region.

Todd embodied what it means to live as a servant of Christ—not only through his priesthood, but through his love for the community,” said Amy Ponson, CEO of the Catholic Foundation. “We give thanks for his friendship, his vision, and his trust in the Foundation to carry forward the mission of supporting our parishes and schools, and will miss him tremendously.”
